The Special Education Program in the Graduate School of Education and the School of Speech Pathology and Audiology is now offering a program leading to a Graduate Certificate in Pervasive Developmental Disorders.
There has been a dramatic increase in the number of children diagnosed with PDD Spectrum Disorder in American schools, including those with autism, Asperger Syndrome and PDD-NOS.
The number of children with PDD, especially those with Asperger Syndrome, being served in inclusive general education classrooms also has increased.
The PDD Specialist Certificate at Kent State University is designed to provide professionals in special education and speech-language pathology with the skills reguired to: develop effective intervention programs; collaborate effectively on intervention teams; support individuals who are being served within a general education context, and address the needs of families.
The PDD Specialist Certificate at Kent State University will provide candidates with an inderdisciplinary curriculum that includes didactic and practicum experieence under the direction of recognized scholars in PDD.
