Admission and Application Requirements
Admission will consist of meeting application requirements for D & D Digital Systems (computer matching), graduate school, and the internship. Each has its own requirements for admission. Please read each section carefully and follow the guidelines provided.
Computer Matching
All applicants to the Kent State University Master of Science/ Dietetic Internship are required to participate in computer matching through D & D Digital Systems. Please go to D & D Digital System's website at www.dnddigital.com to register for the spring computer matching process. Your dietetic internship choices must be provided to D & D Digital by February 17, 2009. Please note the KSU Digital Number is 211.
KSU Graduate Application for Admission
Complete the KSU Graduate Application for Admission on-line at www.admissions.kent.edu/apply. Please note you will need to submit a payment for the graduate application fee by credit card. You may access the application by clicking on the following link:

KSU Dietetic Internship Application Requirements
The following Internship application materials should be mailed to Kent State University together in one packet. Please mail the packet to:

The packet must be postmarked by February 17, 2009 and should include the following:
Letter of Application
This letter should provide insight about your reasons for choosing dietetics as a profession, your reasons for choosing the Kent State University Master of Science/ Dietetic Internship Program, strengths that you possess which would make you a successful candidate for the program, and your goals for professional development. The letter should be in business format, doubled-spaced, and no longer than two pages in length.
Official Transcripts
Include two (2) official transcripts from all Colleges/ Universities attended.
Supervised Practice Program Application
Submit the standard supervised practice application prepared by the American Dietetic Association. You may send a photocopy as long as it is clear. You may access the application by clicking on the following link:
Recommendation Forms
Three recommendation forms are required. Two forms must be obtained from academic references and one form from a professional supervisor, such as a work or volunteer supervisor. Please do not submit more than three recommendation forms. It is preferred all three forms are submitted together in the application packet, but may be sent separately if necessary. Declaration of Intent
Submit the Declaration of Intent to Complete Degree and/or CADE Minimum Academic Requirements or the Verification Statement of Completion of Didactic Program in Dietetics. The College/ University where your academic requirements were or will be completed provides this documentation. It should be an original copy signed by the Program Director in blue ink.
Internship Application Fee
A non-refundable internship application fee of $20 should be sent by check and made payable to: The School of Family and Consumer Studies. (Please note this fee is separate from the KSU Graduate Application Fee).
International Students
Students for which English is a second language are required to have a TOEFL score of 570.
Checklist for Kent M.S. Dietetic Internship Application
- Register with D & D Digital System for spring computer matching process.
- Submit KSU Graduate Application on-line with application fee (via credit card).
The following application materials are to be included in the Internship application packet:
- Letter of Application
- Academic Transcripts (2 official copies)
- Supervised Practice Program Application
- Three (3) Recommendation Forms (recommendation forms may be sent separately if necessary)
- Original Declaration of Intent from current undergraduate program or original verification form if postgraduate
- Internship application Fee of $20 made payable to: The School of Family and Consumer Studies
Selection Criteria
All submitted materials are considered in the selection of candidates. The following criteria are used in the selection process.
Grade Point Average (GPA)
The first step in this process is to be reviewed by the Graduate Program. You must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above to be accepted into the graduate program. Once your application to the graduate program has been approved, then your application will be processed as an internship candidate. As an internship candidate your overall GPA, and science GPA will be most Important.
*If you do not have an overall GPA of 3.0 you may receive "conditional acceptance" into the Graduate program. This means that your application cannot be processed as an internship candidate at this point in time. However, with the "conditional" status you would have an opportunity to re-apply to the Internship program again if you can complete three designated courses (9 credit hours) with a grade of a 'B' or better in each course.
Letter of Application
This is your opportunity to tell us about yourself and why the Kent State University MS/Dietetic Internship Program is the right fit for you. In addition, style, organization, and grammar are important.
Recommendation Forms
Recommendations written by persons who know the applicant in an academic/ professional capacity and are specific to the applicant's qualifications are most significant.
Work/ Volunteer Experience
Experience in the field of dietetics is beneficial, both paid and voluntary. Other experience is also reviewed and considered.
Activities
Participation in dietetics activities and leadership in on and off campus organizations are significant.
* You will be notified by mail of your acceptance status into the Graduate Program from Kent State University.
* You will be notified of your Internship status from D&D Digital systems. Applicant matching results will be posted on www.dnddigital.com from 12:01am Central Time, Monday, April 20, 2009 (Notification Day) through Tuesday, April 21, 2009 (Appointment Day).
