Students in the HM Program are encouraged (not required) to pursue a minor field of study in Business or Management, administered by the College of Business Administration. Currently, students who complete the requirements for the HM degree, only have to complete an additional two requirements for the minor in Business. To obtain minors in both Business and Management, students only have to complete an additional three courses.
The Minor in Business is intended to provide a basic core of business courses. These provide an overview of the world of business while pursuing a liberal arts degree. This minor is available to non-business majors only.
Requirements for declaration of a minor:
- An officially declared major
- A minimum of 60 completed hours
- A minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA
- A minimum 2.50 GPA is required in the minor.

It is recommended that a student pursuing a Business minor take a statistics course, such as:
- MATH 10041, Elementary Probability and Statistics
- PSYC 21621, Quantitative Methods in Psychology I
- SOC 32220, Data Analysis
- M&IS 24055, Principles of Business Statistics
and a production course, such as:
- M&IS 34060, Basic Production Systems (prerequisites are M&IS 24053 and M&IS 24055)
Students are expected to satisfy all prerequisite requirements and courses.
