As with the Ph.D. program, students enter the master's program from various backgrounds, including health education, nursing, gerontology, sociology, psychology, allied health, and environmental studies. Many students are currently employed in health-related professions and attend the University on a part-time basis. To meet the individual needs of our students, many courses are offered in the late afternoons and evenings.

Students in the program utilize theoretical models of attitude and behavioral change in assessing educational needs, designing educational interventions, and evaluating the effectiveness of program efforts.

The program requires the completion of 36 semester hours. This consists of 4 hours of the Graduate School of Education Universal Professional Requirements, and 27 hours of health education.

Graduate assistantships are available for qualified students. These positions receive a full tuition waiver for fall and spring semesters and monthly stipend.
