Any student who meets the requirements for the minor in gerontology is automatically eligible for the Certificate in Gerontology, which is issued through the School of Family and Consumer Studies.

Minor in Gerontology

A minor in gerontology prepares students for professional positions in the diverse field of aging. Students choosing to obtain a minor in gerontology in conjunction with a major in another area of study will significantly enhance their employability. Current predictions indicate that a "baby boomer" will turn 60 every 7 seconds for the next 18 years. As a result, pairing a minor in gerontology with majors such as Psychology, Sociology, English, Recreation, Parks & Tourism Management, Health, Education, Political Science, Interior Design and Business Administration, among others, will rpove to be beneficial.
