KSU Chapter of Club Managers Association of America

The student chapter of Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) is open to all students at Kent State University who are interested in Club Management. Meetings consist of guest speaker from the club industry or a tour of a local club. In addition, the student and Cleveland Chapter meetings provide networking opportunities for students seeking internships and other professional positions. The KSU Chapter of CMAA is housed in the Hospitality Management program.

KSU chapter of professional convention management association

The Kent State University chapter of Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) is open to all Kent State University students interested in pursuing a career in the growing meetings and events industry. Students participate in various fundraising events; go on tours of hotels, conference and convention centers; listen to industry leaders; and attend the annual convention that provides networking and career opportunities. The KSU Chapter of PCMA is housed in the Hospitality Management program.

ice carving club

The Ice Carving Club meets regularly throughout the year. Students at all skill levels are invited to participate in this group. In 2001, two club members won 5th place in the National Collegiate Ice Carving Championship. The Ice Carving Club is housed in the Hospitality Management program.

Sigma Phi Omega (SPO)

Sigma Phi Omega (SPO) is the national academic honor and professional society in Gerontology. FCS sponsors the local chapter, Alpha Gamma. Undergraduate students with a 3.3 grade point average are eligible to join. Meetings are held once per semester with students, faculty members, and practitioners from the applied setting in attendance. This organization promotes scholarship, professionalism, friendship, and service to older persons. Students are invited to present papers at the annual SPO meeting.

Kent State Chapter of GSA

The Gerontological Society of America (GSA) offers a student organization section for all students to become involved. The Kent Campus GSA was created in 2001 to provide students with opportunities to network with professionals in the field of gerontology ad be involved in community service. Student leaders play an active role in the development of programs and activities. Student members of the Society enjoy full membership benefits at about half the price of a regular membership.
