The superintendent license requires three years of experience in a position requiring a Principal or Administrative Specialist license. The license requires 24 hours of prescribed coursework. The student may wish to enroll in the Ed.S. degree program which requires a masters plus 30 hours and is an additional advanced degree.
Thus the student would receive the license and an advanced degree with 30 hours of overlapping course work. The superintendent license coursework includes a field experience as part of the 24 required hours. This license permits the holder to serve in any preK-12 administrative position with the exception of School Treasurer.
